Have you ever wondered why I got serious about my personal blog?

You might have noticed that I have been publishing content on a regular basis for, give or take, 3 years now.

In this article, I’m going to share what I’ve seen, learned, and observed in this time duration. The reason for sharing this is that a lot of you run small businesses, many of you are blog owners, and some of you belong to other fields. The interesting thing is that you read my blog, which means you know a thing or two about blogging, and this makes this article very interesting.

Let’s move forward to the cream of this article.

Here are some reasons why I like my personal blog:

My Face Gets Recognition

If you visit my blog regularly, you might have noticed that my face is pretty much all over the place. First off, my logo reveals my face as in avatar. Secondly, author bio has my face on it, which makes a big difference. You would notice that my face avatar is almost on every featured image of my blog posts. It’s a branding strategy that I’m using for quite some time.

Do you know that companies spend millions of dollars every year just to build an identity and positioning in the customers mind?

Let’s have a look on how it’s helping me.

One of the opportunities my personal blog provided me with was putting my face out there. Almost every personal brand out there uses photos or videos to keep building the identity. There are a few experts who use their faces in the logo. Check Jeff Bullas.

My Words and Thoughts Go Out There

One of the coolest things about publishing a blog is that your words and thoughts go out there in the noisy world full of people who have something to share with almost everyone. If you stay quiet, you don’t stand a chance in that world. So, my personal blog allows me to put my words out there.

Luckily, I happen to be a digital marketing professional, which makes me a little more aware than a layman on digital marketing and online brand growth. So, I had to start pumping out content at some point. I’m glad I started a couple of years ago. Just think about the value of the useful content on my blog after next 12 years.

Just think! Because blog is your asset!

I Showcase the First-hand Experience of Digital Marketing

Besides Adwords advertising and Facebook campaigns that I ran for myself and clients, there is a lot more to discuss in digital marketing. Content Marketing does have its importance in the digital marketing landscape, which is why my personal blog makes complete sense.

If tomorrow a customer of mine asks for a complete digital marketing package; once that person finds my Facebook ad, lands on my personal blog, and reads some of the blog posts — I would be fully equipped to provide them everything possible such as social media management, content marketing, and online advertising.

And it’s not that, I just taught, I learned as well and then there are monthly reports as well, where i share my month to month progress of the blog.

3 Positive Traits I Learned From Blogging

Writing Skills

I don’t mind when I claim that I was not a writer when i started blogging, in fact i still don’t consider myself a good writer even now, you might see some grammar mistakes, sentence errors and other things but thats how i grew. Everyone loves from their mistakes, so I did too, infact if you open my first article on this blog and compare it with the current one, you will see differences. I myself didn’t notice this thing until and unless i compared that personally. So Yes, my writing skills were improved via blogging.

Time Management and Scheduling myself.

With the busy life style we have, everyone suffer’s from time issues. Too much things to do and too less time, how do you schedul

Patience

I’m an aggressive digital marketer and thats how i stepped into blogging, but blogging is an asset and it requires time, patience and consistency. I wanted to spend bucks into advertising and planned to get hundred’s of visitors but blogging is a different a business. Being patient is the key to success here, over the time, I got this trait in me, thanks to blogging.

3 Things I Wish I Should Knew Before I Started Blogging

You make mistakes and that’s how you learn. Overall, I feel my blog has been quite a success and reach most of the goals for which i created it, however there were several things where I was wrong and i felt i need to be corrected. If i had to start my blog again, i will correct 3 things in myself.

You need to be passionate

Working in a wrong niche just because it has good amount of advertisers bidding on the keywords or it has the market demand is not gonna work. I feel, you need to be passionate about what you do, what you write and what u discuss with the people.

You won’t stay long in the game, if you are not passionate about what you are writing, don’t trust me? try yourself. =D

Blogging is not a one day game.

Although I was mentally prepared that it will take time to get the word out, however it took little longer then what i initially expected. So keeping in mind this, I suggest you to be consistence and keep on going, you never know when you hit the jackpot, but make the blog your asset and keep on investing it, it will definitely give you return, if not today then tomorrow for sure.

Consider the example of Pat Flynn, Neil Patel, Matthew WoodWard and others, they didn’t got an overnight success and it took them time to be in news. However one thing which was common in all of them, despite whatever the circumstances were, they were all committed to be consistent with there goal.

I also recommend you to frequently check on your competitors and market, there are many tools, for instance, SEMRush can do the job too. I have written a review on it, you can consider looking on it as well. Click here

Forget Money, Focus Subscribers

When I started blogging, i quickly planned my vacation trips and everything after getting inspired by famous bloggers who were/are earning xx,xxx$ per month from blogging, however soon i realised it’s not the game of dollars, rather subscribers who are your real asset.

So for the start, I will recommend everyone to focus on subscribers instead of money and money will follow you! =D

Conclusion

It wasn’t easy at all to launch a blog and run it along the way, because besides all of the critics you hear about yourself, you need to be consistent! and Yes I’m glad I made the decision of building a blog that started reflecting my personal blog. Today’s it serves small businesses, online advertisers, bloggers, and startup founders by providing them valuable insights and material on digital marketing.
