Hello, everyone!
Is your Google Ads account suspended, and you’re struggling to understand what went wrong?
Are you repeatedly submitting appeals to Google without getting your account restored?
Or maybe your account was suspended for Circumventing Systems, Suspicious Payments, Unacceptable Business Practices, or Malicious Software, and you have absolutely no idea how to fix it.
Well, you’re not alone.
I’m Ali Raza, a digital marketing professional and the founder of AARSWEBS, a Google Partner agency.
Our team has been dealing with Google Ads policy and account suspension issues since 2012.
During these years, one thing I’ve learned is that many advertisers focus entirely on writing an appeal instead of investigating the account and website first.
This can be a big mistake.
When a Google Ads account gets suspended, there isn’t one universal solution that works for everyone.
In fact, our team has developed an extensive audit process containing more than 200 possible checks and review points to investigate different account and website issues.
Today, I’m going to share 20 important things that I recommend investigating before submitting a Google Ads suspension appeal.
Let’s get started.
What Happens When Your Google Ads Account Gets Suspended?
When Google suspends your advertising account, your advertisements stop running.
For a business that depends on Google Ads for leads and sales, this can be a serious issue.
You may lose visibility, customer enquiries, and advertising-driven revenue while your account remains suspended.
The first thing I recommend is not to panic and create another account.
Google can also suspend related or newly created accounts used to evade enforcement.
Instead, you need to identify the real issue, investigate the relevant circumstances, and follow Google’s official process.

Common Reasons Why Google Ads Accounts Get Suspended
Before we go through the audit checklist, let’s understand the suspension categories.
Circumventing Systems: This generally involves prohibited activity that interferes with Google’s advertising systems or attempts to evade enforcement, including cloaking and other deceptive implementations.
Unacceptable Business Practices: This policy addresses serious concerns involving business conduct, identity, or materially misleading representations.
Suspicious Payments: Google may identify suspicious or unauthorized payment activity.
Unpaid Balance: Outstanding billing obligations or associated payment issues may prevent the account from advertising.
Malicious Software: A destination may contain harmful or prohibited software.
Compromised Site: A website may have been modified or compromised without the owner’s authorization.
Other possible issues include counterfeit products, promotional code abuse, prohibited business activities, and repeated policy violations.
Now that we understand the basics, let’s discuss the audit.
My 20-Point Google Ads Suspension Audit Checklist
1. Check the Exact Suspension Notification
The most important thing you should do is open your Google Ads account and read the notification carefully.
Google generally identifies the relevant policy category in the account notification or email.
Do not assume that every suspension has the same cause.
For instance, Suspicious Payments and Circumventing Systems require very different investigations.
2. Review Google’s Email
Open the email connected to your Google Ads account.
Check whether Google has requested verification, identified a policy violation, or provided other instructions.
Keep a copy of the relevant message for your records.
3. Examine Your Google Ads Change History
One thing I always recommend is checking the account’s Change History.
You may discover that someone recently changed an advertisement, introduced a different destination URL, or modified campaign settings.
Reviewing recent changes can help establish a timeline and identify what needs further investigation.
4. Review Advertisement Claims
Sometimes advertisers use exaggerated statements without considering Google’s advertising requirements.
Imagine you’re promoting a weight-loss service and making a dramatic guaranteed-result claim without reliable supporting evidence.
Depending on the representation and context, this could raise compliance concerns.
Review your advertising language and make sure claims are truthful, supportable, and consistent with the landing page.
5. Check the Website’s About Us Page
Does your website clearly explain who owns and operates the business?
Is your business model understandable?
Your About Us page should accurately describe your business, products, services, and relevant background.
However, do not invent credentials, reviews, registration details, or addresses merely to appear more trustworthy.
6. Verify Your Contact Information
Check your telephone number, business email, address, and contact form.
Make sure your customers can reach you using the contact methods you advertise.
Also investigate inconsistencies between your website, account information, and other relevant business records.
7. Review Privacy and Legal Pages
Depending on your website and business model, you may need clear information about:
- Privacy and data collection.
- Terms and conditions.
- Refund and cancellation arrangements.
- Shipping or delivery.
- Subscriptions and recurring payments.
The important point is to provide accurate information required by applicable policies and laws.
8. Test Your Website’s Broken Links
In our audits, we frequently examine navigation and functionality.
Check for pages that lead to errors, broken checkout links, missing product pages, and incorrect redirects.
A broken link doesn’t automatically mean Google will suspend your account, but destination problems can affect compliance and the customer experience.
9. Review Your Checkout Process
If you operate an e-commerce website, I recommend completing a test purchase without necessarily submitting a real payment.
Check whether your product information, pricing, shipping, and refund details are clear.
Make sure the checkout process works correctly.
10. Check Google Search Console
If you haven’t connected your website to Google Search Console, it may be a useful diagnostic tool.
Search Console can identify some website security, indexing, and crawling problems.
In particular, review relevant security alerts and affected URLs.
Remember, Search Console does not directly overturn Google Ads suspension decisions.
11. Investigate Website Malware
This is particularly important for WordPress users.
Sometimes malicious scripts or unauthorized redirects are introduced through compromised plugins, themes, or administrative accounts.
Ask your developer or hosting provider to investigate suspicious files and activity.
12. Check SSL and Website Security
Make sure your website uses an appropriate HTTPS configuration.
Also inspect browser security warnings, certificate issues, and insecure resources.
Remember that an SSL certificate alone doesn’t establish complete website or advertising-policy compliance.
13. Review Website Redirects
Check that users and Google systems can access the intended destination consistently.
Investigate unexpected redirects and third-party scripts that modify page behaviour.
Never use redirects or cloaking to conceal prohibited content from Google’s review systems.
14. Verify Your Business Identity
Your business name, website information, billing details, and verification documents should accurately represent the same legitimate organization where applicable.
Inconsistent information may require further investigation.
15. Check Payment and Billing Information
Review outstanding invoices, billing notifications, and payment problems.
If your suspension is connected to Suspicious Payments or Unpaid Balance, follow the specific instructions from Google.
Don’t assume a website redesign will solve an unresolved billing issue.
16. Review Account Access and Security
Check who has access to your Google Ads account.
Remove access that is no longer authorized and secure compromised credentials.
Use strong authentication and ensure that account changes are performed only by trusted users.
17. Check Social Media and External Business Information
In some investigations, we review relevant social media and public business details.
Conflicting names, links, or descriptions may be worth examining, particularly if Google has raised questions about business identity or transparency.
Having social media profiles is not a universal requirement for Google Ads approval.
18. Review Product Feeds and Merchant Center
If you’re running Shopping campaigns, investigate your Google Merchant Center account and relevant product feeds.
Check product availability, pricing, landing pages, merchant policies, and any reported Merchant Center issues.
19. Document Your Website Corrections
This is something that many advertisers overlook.
Suppose you identify a compromised plugin, missing cancellation information, or incorrect pricing.
Document what you found and what you changed.
Keep relevant screenshots, records, security reports, and URLs.
These materials may help substantiate an appeal when Google requests an explanation.
20. Prepare Your Appeal Carefully
Once your investigation is complete, use Google’s official appeal process if you believe the suspension was an error or you have legitimate grounds for requesting review.
An effective appeal should be accurate, specific, and supported by evidence.
Avoid submitting generic statements claiming everything is fixed without explaining what actually happened.
Sample Google Ads Suspension Appeal
Below is an example structure you can customize according to the facts of your case.
Subject: Google Ads Suspension Review Request — Account ID [Your ID]
Hello Google Ads Policy Team,
Our Google Ads account received a suspension notice for [Exact Policy Category].
We have reviewed the notification, our advertising account, relevant website pages, and the associated business information.
During our investigation, we identified the following issues or possible concerns:
[Explain your actual findings.]
We have completed these corrective actions:
- [Correction 1]
- [Correction 2]
- [Correction 3]
The supporting evidence includes:
[Relevant screenshots, URLs, records, or requested verification documents.]
We respectfully request a review of our account and are available to provide additional information.
Thank you for your consideration.
[Name]
[Business Name]
[Google Ads Account ID]
Important: Only describe actions you actually completed. If you believe Google’s suspension was an error and found no violation, explain why, using verifiable evidence.
What If Google Rejects Your Appeal?
Unfortunately, not every suspension appeal will succeed.
If Google rejects your request, review the response and determine whether there are additional facts, corrections, or documents worth submitting.
Don’t repeatedly send identical appeals.
Google warns that excessive or abusive appeal submissions may result in processing restrictions.
Also, don’t open another account to evade the suspension.

My Final Thoughts
If there’s one thing I want you to remember from this article, it’s that recovering a suspended Google Ads account begins with identifying the actual problem, not copying somebody else’s appeal message.
I’ve encountered many different account and website problems throughout my experience.
Sometimes there are serious security issues.
Sometimes billing or business verification is involved.
And sometimes an advertiser believes an enforcement decision was made incorrectly and needs to provide supporting evidence.
My recommendation is to perform a thorough investigation and then follow the appropriate official process.
I hope this checklist helps you understand where to begin.
Good luck with your Google Ads account!
