Why Google Ads Daily Budget Overspend & How to Solve

I am not pondering upon the worthiness of Google Ads because the business owners already know the real worth of this highly beneficial platform.

But if you have landed upon this question of why Google Ads daily budget overspend and how to solve it for once and all — then you have landed on the right place where I will be explaining the real factors of daily budget overspending and the clear-cut solutions which you can employ to fix the overspending issue by yourself.

5 Factors Leading Your Google Ads Daily Budget into Overspending Embedded with Their Solutions

1- You picked on a competitive keyword(s)

Yes, a highly competitive keyword(s) will greatly impact your daily ad spend going to exhaustion.

The solution: Either increase your daily ad spend budget or shift to the low competitive keywords (sorry to state…)

Also, play in with “Negative Keywords” where your ad would not show up to the unnecessary keywords causing your ad budget not to be wasted.

2- High-quality clicks (fastest reason for budget depletion)

Do you know how Google Ads works? It primarily focuses on reaching your goal. And the clear-cut goal here is to reach a particular amount of conversion which is only and only possible when you have clicks coming in.

Depending upon different factors in this particular case, 100 conversions would largely be possible when your ad lands around 400 to 700 clicks (just assuming), no?

The solution:

Adjust your daily budget accordingly. In simpler words, increase your daily ad spend budget. You wouldn’t be risking leaving the high-quality clicks knocking in because you still have to meet your conversion goal actually to reach your expected results.

3- Mid-month budget change (worst nightmare…!)

The worst nightmare that you’d ever experience — the mid-month budget change.

It is a bit trickier part and requires a proper and understandable example here.

First, assume that the daily ad budget was set at US$50.00 when forming an ad campaign, but you then changed your mind and wanted to increase the daily ad budget.

Okay, yes, you can do that and there won’t be a problem. But the fact is, this dilemma will turn out to be the real budget killer.

For example, you had your daily ad budget set @ US$50.00 and you decided to change your budget on the 10th of the same month to something like US$150.00.

So, Google had previously calculated your monthly ad budget to be US$1,520.00 based on US$50.00 as your daily budget resulting in Google charging US$100.00 for daily and spending over US$1,000.00 in actual within the first ten days.

But you switched to US$150.00 on the tenth day, and that actually resets the average monthly budget reaching the US$ 4,560.00 mark and charging up to US$300.00 as your daily ad spend totaling over US$3,000.00 spent in the next 10 days.

And then you again decided to alter the daily ad budget to US$200.00 for the last 10 days, the average monthly budget will reset to US$6,080.00 with daily ad spending skyrocketing to US$400.00 and the actual spent budget reaching US$4,000.00.

Tricky, no?

Your average monthly ad budget was US$6,080.00 but you actually spent US$8,000.00 in the whole month.

The Solution: #1) Go with a lower daily ad budget. #2) Remember to keep your ad budget the same mid-month, please.

4- Over-delivery (the biggest culprit!)

2x your daily ad budget.

Take it like you are getting high-quality traffic to your ad which was not previously converting any well, then Google will allow the clicks to go 2x twice your average daily budget.

That strategy is called over-delivery and is quite beneficial for marketers.

However, it would certainly make your daily costs go up than projected but rest assured the overall monthly cost will remain under control.

The solution: Keep your daily ad budget within your limit to not accrue excessive charges.

5- Inconsistent audience behavior

Frankly speaking, you cannot judge the market.

When the folks are searching at the higher demand, your ad budget will be consumed faster than ever. And the same would happen when all your ads are performing super well, increasing your CTR.

The solution: You literally cannot do anything about it. Just wait and watch and do not let your average monthly budget not exceed.
